The Bishop’s Chair

The Bishop’s Chair is a place to be yourself, to relax with a good pint of our own, Cathedral-crafted beer, and to dialogue about God, life, faith, and spirituality.

We call it “The Bishop’s Chair” because we’re the Cathedral Church of the Diocese of Quincy, and any cathedral is where the Bishop symbolically sits and presides over his congregations. The name of a Bishop’s actual chair is called a “cathedra,” and we have the original one from the 1880s. It’s a little charred from when the churched burned down in 2002, but it has been preserved and now looks awesome.

We call it “The Bishop’s Chair” because it’s a cool name for a pub, it’s a great place to talk about God, and because “… the sun looks down on nothing half so good as a household laughing together over a meal, or two friends talking over a pint of beer.” — C.S. Lewis
